Farmstay Tours from Sydney Australia

Farmstay tours from Sydney Australia

Australia rode to prosperity on the sheep’s back, when sales of wool to the rest of the world financed the development of the nation. Australia has a rich rural history and traditions.

Visitors to Australia can participate in this history and discover the genuine Aussie spirit when they visit a real working farm on a farmstay tour from Sydney.

Aussie Farmstay and Bush Adventures visits two farms on a range of tours.

“Inglevale” Eugowra

Their visit to Inglevale farm is usually nominated as the best travel experience in Australia when travellers with Aussie Farmstay and Bush Adventures are asked.

Bill Mustering Sheep

Bill mustered the ship riding Gypsy Rose and with the help of Tiger and Bimbo

Inglevale is a sheep farm in the hills near Eugowra about 350km west of Sydney. Owned by Bill and Mary Norris it was purchased from Bill’s Father, Wilf who bought it in 1955 to raise his family. Over the years it has only been cultivated using draught horses because when tractors were introduced Wilf never really took to them and has only ever farmed using the horses he bred himself.

When travellers visit Inglevale they are welcomed with demonstrations of the draught horses working at various tasks and with sheep herding using stock horse and dog, as well as a lesson in sheep shearing.

After the farming demonstrations whip cracking, horse tricks and dog tricks are performed, while the visitors get to know the locals. The locals who come for the evening are friends and family of either Sally or Mary and Bill who visit just to be friendly and enjoy the entertainment.

A meal of traditional Aussie tucker (food) around the campfire is fokllowed by a night of entertainment with Australian songs accompanied by guitar and stories from the locals who come to the farm to experience the entertainment and meet guests from around the world.

Accommodation is in caravans or tents, and there are full bathroom facilities with hot showers and flushing toilets (yes it’s camping in style).

In the morning a cooked Australian breakfast of bacon and eggs is BBQed and shared with Mary and Bill before we leave. On the way out visitors say it’s an experience that will stay with them for life.
