Outback tours from Sydney Australia
Where is the Australian Outback?
This is a question often asked by visitors to Australia and even people I meet when I travel overseas. There is no geographical line which defines the location of the Outback, it’s more a matter of opinion. It depends on the person who is talking about it because the Outback is somewhere in Australia that’s remote from civilisation or development.
So to some Australians anywhere West of the Blue Mountains is the Outback because it’s remote from the coastal cities where 90% of Australians live. But to those of us who grew up in the bush, the Outback is actually closer to the centre of the continent than that, more like Central to West NSW where the trees are short and the paddocks are dry and dusty red most of the year.
So where is the Australian Bush?
This is easier to define. Anywhere that’s not in a city is the bush in Australia. The bush can mean an actual forest, or it can just mean the rural areas of Australia away from the coast. Most Australians identify with the bush, because our heritage and traditions are strongly planted there but few Australians have actually ever lived in the bush.
Aussie Farmstay and Bush Adventures’ tours from Sydney travel deep into the bush where passengers meet local people who have the Outback spirit and welcome guests into their lives and show real outback hospitality. So when you come on a tour from Sydney with Aussie Farmstay and Bush Adventures you’ll have a real Outback experience.
